Aranda takes first win in European Supercross championship
The 2009 Supercross European Championship started in the Palais du Sport of Marseille
(France) in front of a large crowd and with two finals held on Friday the 16th plus two
finals on Saturday the 17th of October, together with the race dedicated to young riders.
In the first day, the overall winner of the two finals was the French Grégory Aranda
(Kawasaki), followed by the last year Champion, the French Fabien Izoird (Suzuki), and
French Cedric Soubeyras (Honda) in third position.
Dominance of French riders also on Saturday evening. Again took the podium Gregory
Aranda and Fabien Izoird plus another Frenchmen Julien Vanni (Honda).
In the new class SX Rookie, the Italian riders were the dominators with Lorenzo Cudicini
(KTM), Ivo Monticelli (Suzuki) and Simone Zecchina (KTM) classified respectively in the
first three positions.
The start of the Championship was extremely encouraging with 44 riders in the SX1 class
and 20 in the SX Rookie.
Next round is scheduled on the 24th of October in the Byzcaya Arena of Bilbao (Spain).
