UPDATE: Belfast Supercross hits new heights with FULL RESULTS

British Supercross is back not so much with a puff but a ruddy great BANG!

Round one of the 2010 series kicked off at the Belfast Odyssey Arena with a sold out house and the best British line up of riders probably ever in the UK.

Martin Barr on the Suzuki and taking the British Pro class

From the very first gate drop the fans certainly got their monies worth with current British MX1 champion Evgeny Bobryshev taking centre stage on his introduction to the applauding crowd, in the races the powerhouse Russian didn’t have it all his own way as Tom Church and Brad Anderson chased him down for 15 laps, Church who had the lead for the first few laps of the race was man handled in a tight corner by Bobby who then went on to take the win in the final of the SX1 International championship.

In the all British championship race, one rider shone above all the rest and that was home town hero Martin Barr, Barr making a switch from Honda to Suzuki for one race until his KTM contract begins ripped to an impressive victory in a field full of British championship riders including Anderson who raced to second spot and returning Brit Adam Chatfield who finished third on the LPE Kawasaki.

Tom Church surprised a few with his SX skills

The International Pro SX2 final didn’t disappoint either with Chatfield finding his legs and ripping to a solid win, chased hard by SX specialist and team mate Jack Brunell in second and Bobryshev making a rare appearance on the smaller machine in third.

If you were lucky enough to be in the arena I would imagine you walked away with satisfaction that your money was well spent, a great nights racing with a class field of riders from the main British Maxxis championship, we’ve always said that if the field is strong and not full of has been Yanks and Canadians the crowds will lap it up.

Special mention must go out to Bobryshev for winning the infamous anything goes “dash for cash” the Russian earned his money just wait until you see the Moto videos – crazy stuff.

Riders were pleased with what went down in Belfast, I’m sure the word will filter around to other riders not there that this event could be the turning point of British Supercross and it was something that all the top boys need to do every year which will increase their own profiles to sponsors within and out of the industry.

Just couple of things which was fed back to us by fans that will possibly increase the level of entertainment even further and that is, maybe put some music on when track maintenance is taking place as it goes a bit flat or even put the dancing girls on just to keep the show/entertainment moving. And please don’t let riders who are so underskilled race with the PRO’s – ITS A ACCIDENT WAITING TOO HAPPEN!

Bring on London we can’t wait!
