A foggy reception greeted riders at Enmore’s “The Pan” for the first race meeting of the 2012 season ran by Bridgwater AMCA.
As the fog cleared and eventually the sun shone it unveiled a revamped track layout which had been very well prepared and set to provide some top class racing and as the day progressed this is exactly what it did. The original disappointing low entry was also boosted by a healthy influx of late entries and day licences which included championship riders both past and present and therefore increased the lineup in all classes.
The MX2/u18 group opened the day and with two race wins Craig Martin took first overall with Sacha Williams securing second overall with a victory in the final race.
MX1 seniors saw Ricky Selway riding on a day licence taking the first two race wins before shifting into experts for race three, The Overall went to Kyle Cheesley who rode consistently throughout the day and a third race victory secured him the top spot.
Experts Unlimited provided some of the best racing of the day with Lee Dunham and Adam Cook providing some excellent entertainment. Adam took the second race win after some bar to bar action with Lee but Lee went on to take the overall in the MX1 class with victory’s in the other two races. Matt White took the overall in the Experts MX2 category with these being scored separately.
Jack Jackett took the Inters overall result with two race wins to his name and George Keller taking the honours in race three. Lee Dunham kindly donated his trophy to the 6th place Inter Junior.
An impressive three race wins gave Dave Charrett the overall in the MX1 Juniors and Lewis Dowell also had maximum points to take the MX2 senior overall in the last race of the programme.
The day turned out to be a success and the club would like to thank the support of all the riders attending and hope to see everyone at their next scheduled event in July.
