The ACU Trials and Enduro Committee are pleased to announce the ACU British Trophy and Junior Teams for the 86th ISDE to be held near Helsinki Finland during the second week of August this year.
The Trophy Team includes a former World Champion, former and current European Champions and current and previous British Champions. The Junior Team of under 23 years old are all promising Enduro riders.
The Trophy Team has been named as Paul Edmondson, Tom Sagar, Si Wakely, Greg Evans, Jason Thomas and Aaran Poolman. Non travelling reserve will be Jordan Rose.
The E1 class slots will be filled by American based Jason Thomas who is performing excellently in GNCC competitions who gets his 3rd call up to the GB team and former four time World Champion Paul Edmondson who has been selected to represent his country for the 20th time since his first ISDE in 1986 and will be hoping to get another Gold Medal to add to his record breaking 16th Gold Medal achieved 2 years ago in Portugal. In the E2 class, places will all be filled by experienced yet young riders; Newtown based, Tom Sagar the former European and British Enduro Champion, Dorchester resident Si Wakely also a former European Champion, and popular Welshman Greg Evans current E2 European Champion. The E3 class place will be contested by Bristol based rider Aaron Poolman who will be hoping for a good first ISDE.
The Junior team only retains one rider from previous years but is made up from a promising group of rising Enduro stars, Danny McCanney, Alex Rockwell, Jonnie Walker and Ashley Wood. Manx duo of McCanny and Rockwell are relatively new to the Enduro scene but are already running amongst the countries top riders, as is Cumbria based Jonnie Walker riding in his first full season. McCanney,Rockwell and Walker will be contesting their first ISDE, Ash Wood will be the experienced member of the team with this being his 5th. Travelling reserve will be Jack Rowland.
ACU British ISDE Team Manager Andrew “Dusty” Martin said “I am very pleased to announce the teams, it seems a long time since our last ISDE, I believe that I have selected strong teams from the riders that were available, the teams are both well mixed with experience and youth, hopefully this will help build the teams and bring out their best performances, added to this our strong reliable support crew teams, and should all contribute to a results that we are capable of. I am pleased the Junior team is made up of less experienced riders, hopefully good results from them will bode well for the future of the British ISDE effort and of Enduro in great Britain.”
