British Supercross champions crowned
The final round of this years British Supercross championship took place at the brilliant O2 Arena in London on Saturday night. Riders from the USA, Canada, South Africa and Britain battled for the coveted Supercross crown.
Canadian Colton Facciotti took the SX2 pro Lites class from fellow canuck Kyle Beaton and American import Ryan Blizzard who is riding for Meredith Suzuki in this years Maxxis and Red Bull Pro championships.
British rider Steven Clarke actually won the overall on the night and now heads back to the USA for the East coast Monster Energy Supercross round in Indianapolis.
In the SX1 Pro Open championship it was Facciotti that lifted his second title on the night and quite possibly a fair size pay cheque for his efforts. Top Brit was Gordon Crockard who had goggle problems in the final nights race, considering Crockstar was racing on the 2stroke Kawasaki and everyone else on 4strokes the kid did well. Another third place went to Blizzard and lets just hope Ryan takes his indoor success to the outdoors at the first round of the Maxxis at Little Silver on February 28th.
The 2010 British Supercross crown goes to Irishman Gordon Crockard who has put a lot of effort this year as he is currently based in Spain running his winter training schools and has jetted back for each round to race – good effort Gordy!
Weston Super Mare based Kawasaki rider James Dodd was second ahead of veteran Danny Tollet and the retiring Ashley Greedy was fourth.
KTM rider Tommy Fenwick grabbed a much deserved Clubman Open title from Carl Jones in second and injured Chad Yarranton third.
Matt Bayliss came out top dog in the Clubman Lites class with Yarranton second and Jason Varnham third.
Top quad Supercross rider for 2010 is Giles Davies, second was Oliver Sansom and super quick Mark Watson third.
Overall the championship improved with every round, I’m quite sure everyone involved with the first round at the NEC will want to forget that in a hurry but thankfully the final show in London made up for it two fold!
