Chad Reed Suzuki’s no.1 Supercross rider is looking to more success at Wollongong in Australia for this weekends fifth round of the Supercross series down under.
The fifth round of the championship reverts to a traditional 20-lap final, a format the Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider prefers.
He entered last weekend’s event still feeling the effects of illness and was subsequently slow from the start gates, fighting his way through the pack in a number of the Survival format bouts.
Reed has relished the week off from competition, returning to light training in preparation for the showdown at WIN Stadium.
The track features another long start straight and incorporates a large sand section which can easily catch riders off guard.
Reed’s plan remains unchanged this weekend, and he is aiming to use the longer race to clear out from championship rivals and cruise home.
“It’s been a tough season so far and I’m expecting a lot of the guys out there will be putting everything on the line in these closing rounds,” said Reed.
“I’m glad to be returning to a more familiar format in the 20-lap final this weekend, I’ll be able to ride a consistent race and find some momentum over the duration.
“I’ll be doing everything possible to keep my win streak alive and my plans for 2009 on track.”
Following Wollongong, just two rounds remain in the 2008 championship – Townsville and Brisbane.
Reed will have just over a month to return to his US base and begin preparation for Anaheim, the first race on the AMA/World Supercross calendar on January 3.
