LAST CHANCE FOR CHEAP BRITISH GRAND PRIX TICKETS
Advance tickets sales for this year’s Motocross Grand Prix of Great Britain close at midday on Friday 22nd May, leaving just seven days for motocross fans to take advantage of the massive savings available by purchasing tickets through the official Grand Prix website at www.britishmxgp.com.
The success of last year’s event, combined with credit crunch busting ticket prices this time around, mean that event promoters, RHL Activities, are expecting a bumper crowd for the British Grand Prix, which will take place at Mallory Park on the weekend of 30th and 31st May.
Thousands of motocross fans, from home and abroad, have already taken advantage of the huge discounts available to those purchasing tickets through the website. The three campsites are also filling up fast, as spectators opt to spend the whole weekend at the circuit, so as not to miss the packed programme of evening entertainment arranged by RHL Activities.
Racing gets underway on Friday 29th May, with the practice and qualifying sessions for the British Supermoto Grand Prix, which combines tarmac and dirt action on a purpose built track that utilises part of the existing Mallory Park road race circuit.
Friday’s Supermoto racing will be followed by live music, courtesy of Shanty Town and Stranded. Shanty Town, who hail from Salford, were well received at the RHL Activities Handlebar Festival and have recently been supporting Twisted Wheel on their UK tour.
Lincolnshire band, Stranded, will perform an electric set of diverse covers, but with their very own added edge. With inspiration from the likes of Guns ‘n’ Roses, Nena, Bryan Adams, Fall Out Boy, Queen, Chuck Berry and many, many more, Stranded’s set is one that spectators certainly shouldn’t miss.
Stranded is definitely a band with roots in motocross as drummer, Jenni Dick, is also the press officer for the CAS Honda world championship team. And while it’s unlikely she’ll be able to convince team rider Billy Mackenzie to make a guest appearance on vocals, the British MX1 star is sure to be there to show his support.
Practice and qualifying for the MX1 and MX2 contenders kicks off on Saturday, followed immediately by the British Supermoto Grand Prix races. Once the racing has ended for the day there will be more live music to keep everyone entertained, with Shanty Town returning to the stage once again, where they’ll be joined by the United Kingdom’s best AC/DC tribute band.
For those who prefer an alternative type of live show of an evening, the ‘Gentlemen’s Entertainment Tent’ that proved so popular at last year’s Grand Prix event will once again be open for business at Mallory Park. This area, which is strictly for people who can prove they are over the age of 18, is open from Friday night onwards.
Bar services have also been improved for this year’s event, with RHL Activities’ drinks partner promising ‘pub prices’ at all outlets within the circuit perimeter and a range of beverages to suit everyone.
A packed schedule of MX1 and MX2 racing on the Sunday brings to an end what promises to be the biggest and best off-road event on the UK calendar this year.
Tickets and camping pitches are available for purchase on the British Grand Prix website at www.britishmxgp.com until midday on Friday 22nd May.
A family weekend ticket bought in advance saves a massive £71 on the gate price, while an advance adult weekend ticket is currently £20 cheaper than paying on the gate.
Camping is still available to book online, but places are now limited on the platinum, family and main campsites, so booking early is advised. A number of pitches on the campsites will be reserved for those turning up at the weekend without a booking, but these will be allocated strictly on a first come, first served basis.
After midday on Friday 22nd May tickets and camping pitches can only be purchased on the gate at Mallory Park during the event.
