Dave Thorpe struck down with swine flu
Four time world motocross champion Dave Thorpe had to cancel his appearance at the opening of a business near Trowbridge after being struck down by swine flu.
David was due to open the new premises of Fastfix Moto-X on Paxcroft Farm, in Hilperton, after the firm moved from Woolley Grange Farm near Bradford on Avon.
But the big Dave was too ill to attend.
Fastfix Moto-X, which provides off-road biking sales, servicing and repairs, is owned by Michelle Griggs and her fiance Stefan Seeger.
Miss Griggs said: “We relocated because we had a burglary a while back so we’ve moved for more security.
“The new premises are fabulous, just what we needed. It’s bigger with much more security and it’s really put us on the map.”
Thorpe will be making an appearance at the first Veterans Motocross des Nations Cup event to be held in the UK at Farleigh Castle in Somerford, on September 5 and 6.
Competitors from 14 different counties will be taking part and Thorpe will be making his first appearance at the venue since he won last motocross grand prix to be held there back in 1989. Tickets are £10 and are available on the day.
