With the winter championships finally over for another year it’s now time for the EKSSC to look forward to the summer championships and also the warmer weather too. But before they do all credit must go to Martin Crane and the committee for keeping the clubs spirit on a high. Not forgetting that also none of the winter rounds were cancelled which makes the clubs record for not cancelling a meeting look pretty impressive. We must also say a big thank you to all the parent/carers, family and friends of the riders who have continued once again to support the riders and the club with their true dedication. As for the riders they continue to be pretty impressive with their style and technique’s not forgetting their adrenalin and speed too. We have seen some outstanding riding in all the groups with progression made and some first ever wins at the club.
So let’s start with the Open group which has grown in numbers since being introduced in the club. The riding and hunger amongst the lads has been truly amazing to watch especially when Tony Cuddy is in town. Tony certainly rode to the limit with some impressive battles with the other riders in the group but tony was always able to stay up in front giving him the podium finish. As for the new boys in the group after moving up during the winter series they were all going to be hungry for the action. Craig Bliss, Dave Taylor and Arron Jenner proved to be the challenge that Cuddy would need. Craig Bliss got a first ever win since moving up to the group and also took second overall. Dave Taylor and Arron Jenner have been outstanding to watch as they rode to the limit giving Cuddy a run for his money resulting in them taking third and fourth overall.
In the Amx, Adam Cooper is the new champ who has pushed himself all the way to take the well -deserved overall win. Both Aston Day and Adam Hawkins have applied the power with outstanding results to take second and third overall. But I do believe that Adam Hawkins did have an advantage though as he is our very own track maintenance guy. So well – deserved! It was nice to see that Super Stu Kemp and Lee Birkby up in the top ten too.
As for the Seniors what an amazing finish to the series as John Waghorne, Lorenzo De Pasquale and new to the group Joe Russell taking the overall top three places. With Lorenzo showing why he was the most improved rider during 2010. Also what an excellent start for Carl Whittam who is also a new rider to the group finished within the top ten. Well done boy!
In the Big Wheels I just can’t believe how much this group has changed and what fantastic riding there has been amongst the riders with the podium finish going to Jack Norman with Jimmy Moore oh Moore in second. Both Joe Borrett and Connor Dennis who have just returned back to the club have both rode superbly taking third and fourth overall.
So in the Small Wheels you know what’s coming don’t you? Yep Mitchell Lewis took the overall by a storm but to be fair Albie Wilkie chased Mitchell hard since moving up from the Junior group resulting in a second overall finish and the pace between these boys has been astounding to watch. In third it’s Tom Lockhart who has kept piling on the pressure throughout the winter series. Marni Saunders finished in the top six showing the boys some girl power!
For the two remaining groups can I just say every one of these kids was a winner as they have ridden their socks off!
So here we go with the Juniors first as Perry Galloway took it for the podium finish with Charlie Burt in second overall. Lewis Cloud did fantastically to take third with Jake Sinden taking fourth after just moving up into the group. Also little lady Tara – Jade Stacey has shown the boys just what she is made of and has rode outstandingly within the group.
Finally those little Auto riders are so courageous and battle on no matter what. The Carter boys took it with Ike up on the podium first with Billy in second and I don’t think Billy is going to let Ike take all the glory either! But in third and fourth were Bobby Bruce and Kayden Algar who challenged the boys all the way. Also Isaac Downey and Frank Mulley have been amazing out on the track and continue to grow in confidence and rode superbly.
