All towards a good gorse!

After another belter at Skelder Bank, Whitby the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup series heads back down to the south of England this weekend for round four at Cusses Gorse, Nr Salisbury and with the a spell of good weather forecasted it looks like it could be a barnburner!

The riders at the top end of the field in all the Elite classes have certainly been hot so far this year and the racing has been intense in all the classes. In the 65cc’s Conrad Mewse continues to dominate with another convincing maximum points haul last time out, but he shares the ‘young man of the moment’ status with Ben Watson even though they aren’t in the same race! Watson also seems to be matching him blow for blow for domination as he has a firm grip on the small wheeled 85 class. Things aren’t so clear cut in the big wheeled 85cc class as there is a battle royal going on for the red plate and seemingly a different race winner each time out. At the moment Sunny Thompson holds a slender eight point lead over Ben Watson’s older brother Nathan after series leader Aaron Pipon broke his leg last time out. Christian Taylor needs to look over his shoulder in the Rookies class after Luke Hawkins closed the gap on him with a dominating performance at Whitby. The young men of the Elite Open class have put on a great show so far and enjoyed the opportunity to go and mix it with the pros when the Red Bull Pro Nationals incorporate with the Elite rounds, and as they reach the half way stage Manx man Alex Rockwell heads the series by 33 points over Lewis Tombs, with Will Worden a further 28 points back.
