Some of you avid readers may recognize the name, Jason was the team mate of Max Anstie before Max went pro and as many of you can probably remember they didn’t really see eye to eye.
Volcom Am team rider Jason Anderson is an amazing talent and has one of the coolest riding styles on a dirt bike. He has had a stellar amateur career with multiple title wins, including 4 at Loretta’s alone. Jason was supposed to turn Pro at the end of this season and ride Supercross but KTM pulled the plug on the 250 Pro program leaving Jason and a few others in the wake.
As the big bike manufacturers follow suit and continue to pull back their support more and more, they are offering less rides for the next generation of up and comers. We caught up with Jason to see what he was up to and his thoughts on doing another year as an amateur.
MOTO – What have you been up to lately?
“Just been riding and training.”
MOTO – You recently moved where do you live?
“Ya we now live in Texas, in the country.”
MOTO – What is there to do out there?
“We pretty much just ride pitbikes everyday, go to the lake and play raquetball.”
MOTO – What didn’t you like about California?
“It was just super fast paced and a ton of people. That’s something I’m not used to, Texas is just super laid back and more enjoyable.”
MOTO – What actor would play you in a movie?
“I don’t know, maybe that guy off the Hangover named Alan, he’s funny as shit and super random.”
MOTO – Anything to say about Loretta’s?
“It was the worst week ever but, I feel I rode good.”
MOTO – You going to do some snowboarding this winter?
“Yup”
MOTO – Where do you like to snowboard?
“I like my local ski resort in Santa Fe, NM.”
MOTO – Are you going to wear your MX gear in the snow?
“Nah, I got some sick Volcom stuff I got hooked up with.”
MOTO- You recently got your drivers license and I heard that you drive like shit?
“Ya according to my mom but she doesn’t know what she’s talking about! I think I’m pretty good.”
MOTO – So, I take it your not real happy about another year as an AM?
“Just kinda bummed out, I really wanted to turn Pro this year.”
MOTO – Do you feel your speed on a dirt bike is fast enough to compete at a Pro level?
“Yes I do.”
MOTO – If you had a ride to go Pro in 2010 would you take it?
“Ya I would. I really want to ride Supercross cause I feel I could do really good.”
