Honda Europe sticks with CAS Honda for 2010
CAS Honda is proud to announce that Honda Motor Europe will be continuing its association with the motocross outfit for its attack on the World Motocross Championship in 2010.
The news that Honda will once again be supporting the CAS Honda squad, which has entered its 12th year of racing aboard Honda machinery, is welcomed in view the current economic situation.
Although the previous two seasons have been unexpectedly tough for CAS Honda and its partners, Honda has stood by the team, which has enjoyed many successes aboard the Japanese manufacturer’s machinery in its long history.
For 2010 CAS Honda has employed the services of Gareth Swanepoel, who finished eighth in the World last year during his first season in the MX1 series, and has his eyes firmly set on achieving a top five position this season.
This will be no easy task, as the MX1 class is more competitive than ever, and Gareth will be making use of CAS Honda’s extensive experience as well as the further improved fuel injected CRF450R to assist with his championship ambitions.
Joining Swanepoel is Evgeny Bobryshev who makes the switch from MX2 machinery. Bobryshev has had little experience aboard a Honda, but the 22-year-old is already excited by his prospects having got to grips with his machine during the team’s pre-season test programme in South Africa.
It will certainly be an interesting year for the CAS Honda squad and the team will conclude its test schedule next week, as well as finalise its preparations for the start of the season at the end of February.
Neil Prince: CAS Honda Team Manager
“The last two seasons have been very tough for Honda and its supported teams, so for CAS Honda it is great that we continue to have support from Honda Europe in 2010, despite the difficult economic climate. We are all aiming to achieve our collective goal of a World Championship, and this is another important step forward for CAS Honda as we start a new season with two new riders that are hungry for success. We have new motivation to realise our goals and with Honda’s backing, as we enter our twelfth year of being associated with Honda machinery, I believe we will have a strong package from the off. We will continue our commitment to raising our bar further in what will be a very exciting and challenging year for the team.”
Roger Harvery: Honda Europe Off-road Manager
“I am pleased that we have continued our partnership with the CAS Honda team, as its commitment to racing for over a decade aboard Honda machinery has been second-to-none. The team has experienced challenging times of late, and it is certainly going to be an interesting year to see how Gareth can progress, as he enters his second year racing in the MX1 class. I am also looking forward to seeing Evgeny on the track, as he could be a surprise this year. I am sure with the team’s extensive experience working with Honda machinery, they will continue to strive for the success they deserve.”
