JAR Honda announce 2012 rider line-up

The JAR Honda motocross team can announce that Wayne Garrett and Michael
McCammond will compete in the 2012 British and Irish Motocross Championship on
Honda machinery. Garrett, who is recovering from a leg injury sustained last year,
will campaign on the CRF450R while teammate McCammond will ride the smaller
CRF250R.

JAR Honda was born when motocross enthusiast and World Superbike rider,
Jonathan Rea decided to put something back into the sport he loved so much. The
team has been running since 2009 in the UK and for 2012, with the help from
Honda and all team partners, Rea can continue to support young talented riders.
Garrett, 26, is scheduled to ride for the first time since injury at the end of the month,
with an intense pre-season planned before the first British Championship mid
March. Meanwhile, 20-year-old McCammond is no stranger to Honda machinery
and is now in his second year with the team. Both riders were present at the Belfast
Motorcycle Show this weekend for the unveiling of their new machines.

Wayne Garrett: MX1 Rider
“I can’t wait to the start of the 2012 season and I am really looking forward to this
new chapter of my career with JAR Honda. I rode a CRF450R while training in
America a few years ago and fell in love with the bike. Jonathan and the rest of the
team have the same passion and motivation as myself so I really hope I can repay
them for this opportunity. My mechanic Kenny Symth will also join me at JAR Honda
which I’m happy about as we worked well together last season. I am still recovering
from a leg injury but am eager to ride the new bike in the next week or so. I have set
myself some high targets which I believe are achievable.”

Michael McCammond: MX2 Rider
“I’m really excited to get started this year and with a great infrastructure around me
and a fast team mate I feel that it is the best motivation to take my riding to the next
level. I want to thank Jonathan for having the faith in me again for 2012 and my
main goal is to win the Ulster and Irish Championship in the MX2 class. While I
enjoyed riding the MX1 bike last season I feel that the CRF250R is much better for
my style. I have been working hard with my mechanic Davy over the off-season and
my new race bike is awesome. I can’t wait for the first race!”

Jonathan Rea: Team Manager
“Firstly I’m really proud to continue our relationship with Honda and our team
sponsors. For 2012 we are going back to the British Championship after spending a
year at home trying to secure a domestic championship but after Michael’s
unfortunate injury that target was not achieved. Michael will campaign on the new
CRF250R in the Irish Championship and also focus on the Ulster Championship.
Wayne joining the team is a great motivation for everyone, especially after watching
his performance last year during the British Championship. We are looking forward
to seeing his potential on our CRF450R and I’m sure we will be competitive in both
Championships. Later today he will have his external fixator removed from his leg
and after his wounds heal we will gradually get him back to the form we know he is
capable of.”
