Here’s the latest news on how Ty is progressing as posted on our local news site in Bristol this morning.

Injured motocross rider Ty Kellett still remains critical at Frenchay Hospital with no change in his condition.

The 16-year-old rider has not regained consciousness since he was involved in a major crash at the Weston Beach Race on Sunday, October 11.

About a dozen bikes collided in the wet conditions on the sand causing a pile-up and the race to be called off during the first lap.

Ty, a member of South Somerset Moto X Club, cracked his helmet during the incident and sustained serious head injuries.

His grandfather Marshal Sturgeon has visited Ty at Frenchay and says he is still unconscious in the Intensive Care Unit.

He said: “They have been working on him but it is too complicated to know exactly what has been done.

“There’s no change really, he is still unconscious, his condition is the same and that is as much as I know.

“We are all still hoping and praying but at the moment he is no different. It is going to be long haul, we will have to accept that and keep going on.”

Organiser Gareth Hockey, of RHL, says his thoughts are with Ty’s family.

He said: “Most of the other riders have left hospital, some with broken bones. Ty is my only concern and I just hope he wakes up and gets better. I know it is racing but it is a horrible thing to have on your conscious.

“I have a 16-year-old son myself and so my thoughts are with his parents.

“The council has spoken to me saying they want me to come back next year but at the moment my only concern is Ty.”

Race organisers announced on Tuesday a re-scheduled race would not go ahead after all this Sunday.

Remember guys you can go to the South Somerset website and leave your messages of support for Ty and his family or visit the MXTRAX FORUM and do the same there.
