Livia Lancelot will travel to Sweden this weekend, where she will be as a spectator for the fifth round of the Women’s World Championship.

After her crash while practicing in Lommel a few days before the German GP, Livia retired two weeks ago
during the opening race in Teutschenthal, but she was dreaming to ride in Sweden. Unfortunately the verdict of the doctors she visited was clear.

‘When I came back from Germany I went straight to visit some famous specialists in Lyon, and they did an IRM and an arthroscopy to check my right shoulder. They saw that there were no damages to the ligaments, but they also told me that an operation was unavoidable to solve my problem, as it’s not normal to dislocate your shoulder so easily’ explained the reigning World Champion who will go back to the hospital next Monday.

‘With the doctors we have decided to make theoperation as soon as possible, and on Monday I will go back to the Orthopedic Center Paul Santy in Lyon.

I know the place and the doctors as they already treated my knee on September 07, it’s a famous place.
The operation will take place on Tuesday under anesthesia, and they will do a bone graft in my shoulder
to avoid any trouble in the future.

I will have to keep my arm fixed during twenty one days, and then can’tride my Kawasaki during four months. But hopefully I will be able to start running after one month, and normally to use my bicycle within two months. That’s positive news, as I will train physically hard until winter to be ready to ride again when they will give me the permission’ continued Livia who has decided to visit some of the last GP’s. ‘I wanted to come to Sweden, as it will be a mental break just before going to the hospital.

For sure it will be difficult to see the Womens riding, especially this year as for the first time in my career I was battling with Steffie Laier. In the past she was regularly faster, but thanks to my intensive training and to the team’s work on my Kawasaki I won three of the four first GP’s. I came back last year from a worse injury – knee ligaments broken in September 2007 – so I’m sure that I will be even stronger next season’ ended the fast French woman.”
