The big guns were out at Lyng on Sunday for round three of the Maxxis British motocross championship.

Lyng as every year brought in huge numbers of fans to watch the best of the best in UK motocross and they were also graced with the appearance of Ben Townley who was making his return to the track after injury.

In MX1 Brad Anderson took control and went 1-3-1 and now leads the championship by 12 points from the ever improving Kristian Whatley of Samsung Yamaha.
Brad Anderson: 1st Overall (MX1)
“Practice went alright; it was a bit hard to begin with as the track was smooth, whereas I prefer it rough, but we got third and then improved in Superpole to second. In the first race didn’t get a real good start but fought through and got the win, which I was real pleased about as I haven’t had a win yet this year. In the second race I was way back off the start in around 14th and fought my way through to third. I just couldn’t get my rhythm and the front guys were putting quicker laps in. Once I come in I went and had a look at the track and had my head down and was determined to win the last one. I didn’t really get the best of starts but I knuckled down because I wanted it so bad and it paid off. I won the race and I’ve got the red plate back now and hopefully it’s the start of things to come.”

For all three races Anderson, Whatley, Tom Church, Stephen Sword, Jason Dougan and Martin Barr battled hard throughout chasing much needed championship points. With five rounds still to go the championship is still very much wide open.

Zach Osborne once again showed a clean pair of heels and he swept to a 1-2-1 scorecard. The popular Bike It Cosworth rider was fearless but his team mate turned the tables in moto 2 and crossed the line first. EBB was super consistent and even with an injured ankle still managed to keep his nerve and ride through the pain for second. Samsung Yamaha completed a successful day with Ray Rowson finishing in a strong third. Zach now leads the championship by 3 points from Tonus.
