The woods of Doon near Athlone provided the backdrop for Round 2 of the
“Retink Racing Adult Irish Championship” on Sunday (April 15th) on a GP
standard prepared track.

JAR Honda riders, Wayne Garrett on his CRF450R and Michael McCammond
on his CRF250R were feeling confident going in to battle, fresh from their
great results on Easter weekend in Desertmartin.

Wayne Garrett availing of his usual good starts, battled all day up front but
struggled a bit with suspension set up in the morning which was quickly rectified
and consistent riding all day bagged him valuable championship points.

Michael McCammond who had some bad starts and a small bit of bike trouble in
race 2, worked his way through the field each race and also gained valuable
championship points.

Wayne Garrett 4-2-3

“Today was a wee bit up and down for me. I was happy enough with my speed
but in race 1 I had a few problems with suspension and got it sorted for race 2
and I finished second. Race 3 I got away well but let Gibson away, but was
able to regroup and finished up 3rd. I have a bit of work to do this week but I am
happy the way things are going and hopefully I can keep it up”

Michael McCammond 3-3-4

“Today at first was a struggle because hard-pack is not really my thing. First race
I didn’t really get into the rhythm and made a few mistakes. Race 2 my clutch
lever broke off and had to do the race with no clutch. I felt comfortable in 3rd race
but need a bit more practice on hard-pack and better starts”

Jonathan Rea – Team Manager

“I’m pleased with our consistency this weekend, and although it was not possible
for Wayne to challenge for the win he came home with a good points haul. After
race one his side of the awning worked hard on a better set up for the rest of the
day and that paid off. I know Michael is not that happy about the results but he
has made a big step on the hard terrain tracks and suffered bad starts all day.
The next round is at a track that suits us better and we aim to capitalize on that.”
