MCF release dates for 2010!
Without question the Red Bull Pro Nationals have given motocross a shot in the arm this year and the MC Federation are keen to keep the momentum going for 2010 and beyond. This year the MCF have run three full national series with great affect. The Red Bull Pro Nationals, Red Bull Elite Youth Cup and Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke British Championship have all gone down a storm with riders, families and fans.
Throughout 2009 the MCF have laid on race events where the three series have often collaborated to make bumper weekends of motocross action with a real ‘festival’ atmosphere and that’s a trend that the MCF wish to continue on a permanent basis.
For 2010 the MCF are excited and pleased to announce that all four of their championships will be incorporated together to form the ‘Red Bull Pro Nationals’. Following on from the success of their six Red Bull Pro Nationals this year the MCF have decided to roll their national championships together for an eight round series that will have it all and really put motocross on the map in the UK. The new series will have the Red Bull Pro Nationals, Red Bull Elite Youth Cup and the Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke British championship all together over two days of racing on the best tracks the UK has to offer.
Events like the two rounds of the Red Bull Pro Nationals at Canada Heights this year proved to be the blueprint of what to expect and more. As MCF Chairman Matt Bates explains “We really want to create a motocross festival where we have everyone in UK motocross involved, adults, kids and all of the industry working together to take the sport to a higher level. We want to create a series where the youth riders can improve and be part of the bigger picture. I think this year we have started to do that with our Red Bull Elite Youth Cup and now the obvious progression is to have them racing with the pros at every event. With eight events we can throw everything at them and make them something special. Once again at every round of the new championship they’ll be freestyle motocross, the big TV screens, good commentary, a decent sound system, the motocross try-out area but we want to add more to that to make it appealing to the public and draw new people in. They’ll be live music on the Saturday evening and Sunday during the racing, more trade stands and just more sense of being at an event, and of course with the best riders in the country at every level the racing should be really exciting too.”
It’s not just the fans who’ll benefit from putting all the series together as one either. Riders, teams and even mechanics will benefit from the new approach. The prize money will be pumped up for the riders and on top of that there’ll be a manufactures cup for the teams with bonus money and improved media for them and all of their sponsors. The hard working mechanics get a chance to earn some money too with bonus payment off the back of their rider’s performance, so expect to see the pit signals intensify!!
Venues have yet to be decided but the dates have be put in place for the all new Red Bull Pro Nationals so make sure to put these in your diary or on your wall planner now!
