The fourth and final round of the 365.com evening meetings was held at a very wet and muddy Whittas Park track at Bassenthwaite. with the rain coming down on and off all night, all the riders got on with the racing, and some great racing in all classes made the final round and the event a success.
The C class race started the night off, and it was championship leader Gavin Lowes who showed out in front, with Will Cowsill and Ray Gaskell hard on his back wheel, Lowe made a mistake later in the race and Cowsill took over from him at the front, Gaskell also got by Lowes to finish second behind Cowsill, Lowes finishing third. Race two and Lowes made no mistakes this time to take the win with Cowsill second, and Joe Pammenton third. Race three and same three battled for the win, Cowsill took it and the overall on the night, with Lowes second and Pammenton claiming third.
Lowes took the Championship overall after four rounds, with Glendinning second and Cowsill taking the third place.
Peter Lightfoot took a race one win in the Vets Class, but hard on his heels was Stuart Bland and Chris Cannon who finished second and third. Race two and it was Bland who took the win, with Lightfoot paddling home second, and Rob Elliott third. Elliott took the third race win, with Bland second and Cannon third. Bland took the overall on the night from Lightfoot second, and Elliott third. Cannon won the Vets Championship overall after some great riding over the four rounds, with Andy Farr second and Peter Lightfoot third.
Race one in the B class saw John Robson Jr take the win, with Dave Cowsill second, Anthony Mistlebrook took the third place. Race two and Mike Farr took the lead and the win, with Robson second and Robert Hail third. Race three and the mud getting deeper, Ex Haynes Fourstroke champ Martin Rawlinson took the win, Cowsill claimed second place after a race long battle with Farr who took third. Farr went on to take the overall on the night with Robson second and Cowsill third. Cowsill who was lying down in fourth coming into the final round, rode well all night and gained enough points to become Champion overall, with Farr second and Hail third.
Richard Lawson came into the last round with a 42 point lead, and was looking to make sure of the championship, by taking the race one win with ease, ahead of Richard Mike Jones and Matthew Moffat in second and third. Race two and Lawson again took off in front, and took the win, with Brad Mercer pushing him all the way in second; Alex Rach after a poor start battled his way into third. Race three saw Lawson again take the lead, but Rach had wakened up and chased hard after Lawson and took the lead and the win, with Lawson second and Graham Riley in third. Lawson became champion again for the third year, with Graham Riley second, and Alex Rach third.
A special award went to Robert Hail, after showing grit and determination in his first year at all four rounds. The Paul Jinks memorial trophy is awarded to someone who has impressed the organisers; the Award was presented to Robert by Darren Hudson.
