Why MVRD Suzuki are racing at Steel City!
It seems that racing in the USA is very vogue at the moment, new tracks, normally good weather and extremely fast riders make it the place to be when wanting to test how fast you actually are.
We reported that MVRD Suzuki riders Carl Nunn, Mattis Karro and James Cotterell are going to be racing the final round of the AMA nationals at Steel City. We spoke with Mark Chamberlain the team manager and asked him how all this came about?
“The trip came about as for several years now I have wanted to take the Team to do a National to fulfil an ambition as much as anything. I was lucky enough to meet Jeff Cernics of Cernics Suzuki in 1995 at the Motocross Des Nations in Spain. (Jeff gave Craig at DEP the viper which was him grabbing him around the chest and putting his thumb knuckle into your sternum. Craig being Craig said it didn’t hurt so Jeff carried on squeezing! The next day Craig could hardly move which we all found really funny:)
So Jeff is the man who runs the shop and is kind enough to lend us some bikes and make it happen. The dates in previous years have all fallen wrong for us and it’s never been free for either Steel City or Mount Morris which are in Pennsylvania where Jeff’s shops are situated.
Once we knew we could get the bikes we contacted Davey Coombs at RacerX to point us to the correct person for the entries. That was a bit of a long winded thing as you have to have them notarised to wave all rights to sue etc.. Once that was done we could start to plan the trip!
As with most things money is always the big issue and this trip although not that bad as we have called in some favours it still costs a lot. I’m lucky that maybe we haven’t got the biggest sponsors in the world they all are like us, love motocross.
I made a few calls and before long we were on our way as such, although we still have some money to get the following people stepped up straight away. Foxwood Ceramics, Lanes Construction, Junkyard, DEP Pipes, Moto Magazine and SP Landscapes. Thanks guys for letting us live the dream for an extra weekend!
To top that I asked Carl and Mattiss to chuck any prize money back in the pot if they get any!! They agreed straight away which was cool as no one is gaining from the trip other than to enjoy a new experience across the pond.

Matiss Karro, his Mechanic as Matiss says Carl Turner, Carl Nunn, G (My brother Gareth who is on tools for the Nunn), James Cottrell, Me I’m weekend spanner for him and SP (Steve from SP landscapes)
Matt Cottrell is flying over for the weekend to watch the race and make sure we are under control..”
