British manufacturer Norton makes a jubilant return to Birmingham this year, where they were founded back in 1898, to launch their exciting new range of models at The Carole Nash International Motorcycle & Scooter Show 2009
Now based at Donington Park, Norton will be unveiling two important new machines, the 961 Commando and the Café Racer Commando to the world at the internationally renowned show.
Stuart Garner, British entrepreneur and bike enthusiast, resurrected the iconic marque and bought the rights in 2008 to re-launch the brand. Norton has since embarked on a vigorous marketing campaign including a return to the Isle of Man where they showcased their unique rotary engined race-bike. Norton has, since 1907, had strong links to the Isle of Man TT where a twin-cylinder Norton won its class in the first ever TT.
Norton are also displaying the NRV588 Rotary race bike. Garner was recently seen speed testing a Norton rotary NRV at Bonneville Salt Flats in the USA, logging over 180mph for a 173mph average run.
Stuart Garner, Managing Director of Norton said: “We are very excited to be back! The UK is an important market for us globally and the NEC Bike Show has a massive and deeply knowledgeable audience, there is nowhere else we’d rather be launching!”
Finlay McAllan, Managing Director of MCIE added: “To be able to offer Norton the Show as platform to unveil their new bikes to the world is tremendous. As Norton embarks on a new era, we hope that the Show will assist them on their journey and allow this quintessentially, famous British brand to go from strength to strength. I have no doubt that the Norton stand will be a great draw to our visitors and will create quite a stir internationally”.
