Newly appointed Motocross of Nations Team Manager Steve Dixon made his decision on the final rider line-up for the coveted event this weekend in Franciacorta Italy.
Tommy Searle, Billy MacKenzie and Shaun Simpson are the definitive line up. Simpson is replacing the injured Carl Nunn who sustained a broken leg during a recent race meeting.
Simpson stepped up to MX1 at the final round of the Maxxis Championship at Landrake where he pulled in a second place finish during the first moto.
Dixon explained his decision saying: “I’ve considered his results abroad as well as his British results and that is why I’ve decided to go with Shaun Simpson. He proved here at Landrake that he can ride a 450. It’s a shame Billy accidently took him down in the second moto but I saw what happened and I watched him come back through the pack. Stephen Sword, James Noble and Jake Nicholls also had brilliant races so it was a very tough decision considering I’ve just acquired the job three weeks ago. I think we are in a good position so I want everyone to get behind the team and support us as we go for a podium. I think we will do well as we have a strong team.”
The Red Bull Motocross of Nations will take place on Sunday 4th October at Franciacorta in Italy.
