Returning from injury earlier than expected, both Shaun Simpson (Red Bull KTM) and Billy MacKenzie (CAS Honda) have confirmed their entries and both will be riding in the ACU British Motocross Championship at Duns, in the Scottish Borders region on Sunday. This will be the first time since March that all of the top contenders will be injury free and riding!
The action is likely to be hot as, apart from these two world class riders returning after season threatening injuries, Simpson’s team counterpart Stephen Sword and Brad Anderson (Par Homes Honda) have a good chance of taking their respective titles at this event, with one round still remaining.
But ahead of this, Anderson will have to overcome the attentions of South African Gareth Swanepoel, (Factory Kawasaki) who exchanged harsh words with the North Easterner after their last meeting, a month ago. Both have vowed to let their riding do the talking, so fireworks are assured!
Other top names in the six race line up include, Jake Nicholls, another South African Neville Bradshaw, Gordon Crockard and Martin Barr from Ireland, Latvian teenage hotshot Mattis Karro, GP winner from the USA Zach Osborne, Swiss rider Pascal Lauret, plus Carl Nunn, James Noble, Tom Church, Ray Rowson, Jason Dougan and Elliot Banks Browne in the 100 strong start list.
The Langdon Lees circuit is situated in the Lammermuir Hills, just 5 miles into Scotland and is easily reached from the A1 and A7 trunk roads from, Newcastle , Edinburgh and Carlisle .
With the first Championship race due to start at 1.05pm it allows for travelling from the Midlands and even the South, without the need for an overnight stay. For more local fans, the action starts with the Timed Training sessions at 9.30am
The circuit will be signposted from the town of Duns . The postcode for the track, which offers 100% viewing over the Johnny Douglas-Hamilton built circuit, is TD11 3NS.
