South Somerset join MCF
Not only was this year’s Dirt Bike Show at Stoneleigh Park a huge success for the event organisers it was also very encouraging for the MC Federation. The show was an opportunity for the innovative, fresh organisation to really stamp their mark on the British off road scene.
With an impressive and professional stand in the main arena the MCF were overwhelmed with the support shown by the off road motorcycle community, proving the point that the MC Federation are really tapping into what riders and fans of the sport really want.
Apart from attending the show to continue to promote their three successful championships – The Red Bull Pro Nationals, Red Bull Elite Youth Cup and Fuchs-Silkolene 2 Stroke British championship, the MCF’s real focus was to launch the federation to all clubs across the UK and they did so with much aplomb.
With former ACU motocross manager Roy Barton now in his new job role as MCF General Manager things are looking positive for the MCF as the momentum continues to grow. And with his first day in the office so to speak, Roy and the rest of the MCF staff certainly had their work cut out as they sat down with over 100 motocross and off road clubs and took them through what they had to offer, from insurance, to online technical support right through to track management and rulings as they covered all bases with a common sense procedure.
The MCF will shortly be issuing a full list of clubs that have signed up to the federation but one such club to already join and share the MCF’s vision of UK motocross is the former BSMA club, South Somerset, as they become the first youth club to affiliate with the federation. MCF’s chairman Matt Bates is delighted to have such a strong youth club involved “I’m so pleased that the committee and members of the South Somerset Club have started the ball rolling for the MCF and our drive towards Youth clubs in 2010 – we’re now dedicated to increasing this number in joining South Somerset and can’t wait to start working with them”.
Something the club feel the same way about as Paul Williams from the South Somerset committee explained “South Somerset MX Club are pleased and very excited to be the first youth motocross club affiliated to the MCF. We have received nothing but support and encouragement from our members and the motocross fraternity as a whole. We see this as a partnership that can only reap benefits for us all and move motocross into a higher league at club level”.
With more clubs joining and plans for their new eight round Red Bull Pro Nationals already in full motion it looks like the MC Federation will continue to go from strength to strength in 2010.
