The Scottish Motocross Championship kicks of with a bang at Leuchars, near St Andrews , on Sunday 4th of March.
The track has been recently rebuilt with many huge jumps to add to the thrills and spills of this high speed sport. Current Scottish MX1 champion, Ross Rutherford, has three consecutive titles and a fourth would equal the present record.
He will have his work cut out with English and Irish invaders keeping him honest. World championship grand prix class riders like Graeme Irwin on his Samsung Yamaha will be looking for a slice of the prize money pie as will Jamie Law (D3 KTM), Daniel Hutchinson and Mel Pocock.
There’s also a possibility that local grand prix star, Shaun Simpson may make an appearance. Scottish talent will be out in force with Scott Findlay, David Houston and Gavin Robertson all out to make their mark.
Many of the top MX1 riders will also be out in the MX2 class battling with Youth MX2 champ, Ryan Livingstone and Youth 85cc champion, John Adamson, both trying to make their presence felt after moving up to the adult ranks.
The track is situated at Comerton Farm off Earlshall Rd, KY16 0DP , and practice starts at 10 with racing commencing at 11.20.
Motocross is a great family day out with admission is being kept artificially low at £5, accompanied children under 14 get in free.
