The 2012 Red Bull Pro Nationals finally got under way at Landrake Moto Parc in Cornwall this past weekend in dry conditions. The UK’s top riders were all in attendance for what turned out to be a super successful weekend for our French prodigy Steven Lenoir onboard the Samsung RFX Yamaha 250 who finished in second position in a hotly contested MX2 class.

“For me this weekend was good and my best yet in the UK. I was pleased with qualifying, in race 1 I struggled with back markers but made my way to the front. The races were quite short and I need to make the move quicker in the next round. The bike was awesome today and I look forward to round 2 in a few weeks. I’m really pleased to stand on the podium for the first time in the UK and at round 2 I will be wanting the top step.”
Graeme Irwin – MX2
“Not so good for me this weekend but my speed was good considering it was my first race on hardpack this year. I had a few problems in moto 1 and a couple of crashes which didn’t help in moto 2. This week will be full on testing on hard pack ready for the Maxxis and the next round of the Red Bull in a few weeks.”
Jon Giffard – Team Manager
“Mixed emotions yesterday with the team. Steven performed really well in both races, he really is settling in well with his efforts here in the UK on his Yamaha. He didn’t have a great start in moto 1 but rode really hard for the whole 25mins. He had a much better start in moto 2 and battled well and was strong right to the end and ended 2-2 and is now second in the championship. Graeme’s day started well and his speed was good in qualifying, in the first race he lost his roll off’s and had to come in for a goggle change and play catch up with the pack and finished 9th at the end. A better start in moto 2 and was sitting in 5th place in a tight race with the leaders but unfortunately crashed halfway and again on the final lap and crossed in 7th place.
In MX1 Jake found good speed but just needs to improve his starts for a better finish overall.”
The team’s next event is round 4 of the Maxxis British Championship on Sunday May 27th at
Milton Park in Northamptonshire.
