Injuries to their two star riders have forced the STR KTM Motocross team to pull out of the next two rounds of the World Championships being held in Latvia and Russia.
The injury suffered by Matiss Karro in Sweden last week was a particularly bitter blow as the 20 year old is currently lying second in the British Championship table, just five points behind leader Kevin Srijbos.
According to team boss Steve Turner, Matiss will be out of action for at least six weeks having suffered severe concussion and a compression fracture to his T8 vertebrae in the crash at Uddevalle.
To makes thing even is worse for the young Latvian rider, the next round of the World Championships was due to be held in his home country of Latvia where he has an army of fans.
There is better news on the progress of Nathan (Nez) Parker. He is on the mend and been given the green light to start riding again and will be back for the next round of the British Championships being held at Hawkstone Park on the 29th July.
Steve Turner said : “Injuries are part and parcel of Motocross but both Matiss and Nez have been very unlucky this season. The latest injury to Matiss could not have come at a worse time. He’s been on fire this season in both the British Championship and the Worlds.”
