Swordy unstoppable at Lyng
One circuit that most riders and industry folk look forward to every year in their busy motocross diary is Lyng in Norfolk.
This year fans poured into the Cadders Hill venue to watch some mesmeric racing in both the MX1 and MX2 classes, a lot of the locals were cheering on local hero Jake Nicholls who didn’t disappoint with a very strong second overall but it was his Red Bull KTM team mate Stephen Sword who set the track on fire with two superb race wins. This puts Sword 55 points clear in the British championship of his nearest rival Neville Bradshaw.
Brad Anderson didnt have it all his own way in the MX1 class as Kawasaki teamster Gareth Swanepeol took a comfortable race one win from Ando but race two was slightly different as Bradders stormed to a fine win which extends his championship lead to 46 points from James Noble.

Jake’s barmy army were out in force at Lyng all orange like and drinking plenty of water for some reason.

Stephen Sword was unstoppable in both races, some fans were surprised on how well the little Scottish fella rode due to his recent hand injury – more of the same please Mr Swordy as according to some British motocross riders are not that good!

Swanepeol showed a clean pair of heels in moto one but Ando and co did push him all the way though.

Frenchman Pascal Leuret made a return to the Maxxis this weekend, not really showing great speed to be honest but probably happy with his comeback performance in eighth.

Battered and bruised Mel Pocock was feeling it after his clash with Mattis Karro and Ando’s mechanic shows his own nasty scar while checking out Brad’s bike in practise.

After a huge crash on the first turn for Lewis Rose the race was red flagged after intervention from LPE team manager Steve James and then the ambulance broke down which is never a good thing when your laying there with a broken tibia and fibia.

Is it just us at MOTO but is Scott Columb starting to show real form? Answers on a postcard please.

Rob Herring looks pretty pleased with himself after taking the British Veterans championship, he did mention that the track hasn’t changed in 27 years when he raced the Cadders Hill circuit back in the day, maybe “the Fish” was hinting its time for a revamp?

Good old Brad does it again and always looks like he’s having a lot of fun – Brad for champion in 2009?
Lookout for the Maxxis British championship video from Lyng tomorrow on MOTO where Mikey Neale will be showing his skills once again as the UK’s foremost creative motocross filmmaker.
