Taddy second at Spanish Enduro Championship Rnd 2

KTM Enduro Factory Team rider Taddy Blazusiak has finished as overall runner-up at the second round of the Spanish Enduro Championship, held in Antas, Almeria. Competing in what was the FIM SuperEnduro World Champion’s final pre US Endurocross event, Taddy put his disappointing performances at the Spanish opener behind him to finish ahead of Enduro World Championship regulars Ivan Cervantes, Joakim Ljunggren, Oriol Mena and Lorenzo Santolino.

Extremely dry and dusty conditions welcomed competitors in Antas, with three laps of racing and a total of nine special tests decided the results. Never too far away from the race leading pace set by his KTM team-mate Cristobal Guerrero, Blazusiak’s consistency paid off late in the race. On the third and final enduro test a mistake by Ivan Cervantes allowed the Pole to move into second in both the overall and Enduro 2 classifications.

Taddy will now spend the next four-to-five weeks tackling ‘rocks and logs’ on the Endurocross tracks close to his home in Girona, Spain as he ramps up his preparations ahead of the opening round of the US Endurocross series, which starts in Las Vegas on May 4.

Taddy Blazusiak: “I’m really pleased with my second place result. It’s been a good couple of weeks with winning at the British Sprint Enduro Championship and now getting runner-up here in Spain. It makes up for the disappointing result at the first Spanish event. Like in the UK I raced with an enduro motor, not the Endurocross engine I used at the first event in Spain. It was great. This is my last race in Europe before heading to the States for Endurocross so knowing that my speed was good is a real boost to my confidence. It was a great race, very dry and dusty and pretty hot, about 30 degrees. Cristobal always goes well on hard-pack terrain, which makes finishing second to him even better. I made a few mistake on the first two laps, nothing big, but was generally consistent and riding like I knew I could. Cervantes made a big mistake on the final enduro test, which allowed me to get the runner-up result. The extreme test didn’t have much extreme stuff on it, so I didn’t have any big advantage here. It’s been a great day. It’s back to the Endurocross training now. I’ll spend the next four or five weeks riding rocks and logs. It’s a great end to my pre-Endurocross races in Europe. I’m loving racing the 350 and looking forward to the start of the Endurocross championship on May 4.”
