Tanel Leok back in the UK with Route77energy MVR-D Honda

British motocross team Route77energy MVR-D Honda will make a return to the FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship after re-signing team rider Jason Dougan for 2013. Joining him in the team is currently eighth-ranked Motocross World Championship rider Tanel Leok.

Although Dougan was sidelined for the majority of the 2012 season with a wrist injury, he impressed the team with his high level of fitness after returning to racing in early August. Leok, also having struggled with injuries early in the season, hopes to build on his late season improvements and return to the world championship top five as he did several years ago.

Supported by long-time sponsor Route77energy and manufacturer Honda UK, team principal Mark Chamberlain expects the team to challenge several of his British and European rivals.

Commented Chamberlain: “I’m really pleased that we could get everything tied up so quickly with Tanel and Jason. I think that it shows a huge amount of faith on Tanels part to commit to the team coming from a factory setup. Both riders know the team will give 100% next year to getting them where they need to be. Jason had some injuries this year from the start of the season so it will be nice to see him race ready and he can only benefit from Tanel’s speed and experience. As for Leok he has shown with his podium in Holland he can still perform at the highest level and is only now fit after a pre-season accident slowed his early form.

“There will be big changes in the team coming up over the winter with focus on its infrastructure and setup being key. I would like to thank Neil Tuxworth from Honda UK and Rolandas Sakauskas from Route77energy for their continued support and belief in next year’s programme.”
