2013 AMCA/”CLASSIC DIRT BIKE” BRITISH CLASSIC SCRAMBLES CHAMPIONSHIP
This year the AMCA is one of the joint sponsors of the British Classic Scrambles Championship. Long time sponsors “Classic Dirt Bike” magazine are still on board, giving us a combination which I hope will help all concerned, particularly clubs and competitors, writes Dave Gittins.

The first round this year is at Yatton Keynell, near Chippenham (courtesy of Bath Classic MCC) on 28th April (NOT the Llanthony Classic meeting on 24th March mentioned in an earlier column). The regs etc for Yatton Keynell are already circulating and can be obtained from the AMCA website, or from Alison Salmon (Entry Secretary) at Bystone Cottage, Coate, Devizes, Wilts. SN10 3LQ (Tel. 01380-860606). Closing date: 20th April. Entries are already flowing in so please enter early. I shall have regs with me at the Llanthony club meeting at Clyro, near Hay-on-Wye on 24th March so if you need a copy stop me and get one!

Further rounds follow at the Acorns meeting at Butterton, Newcastle-under-Lyme on 26th May; at Abbeycwmhir, near Llandrindod Wells on 28th July; at Combe Martin in North Devon on 11th August, and the final round is at Llanthony, near Abergavenny on 29th September. A sixth round may be added in September – watch this space!

This year there are a couple of important changes to the two categories:

(1) Round barrel Victors will be included in the Pre-65 category – but only genuine round barrel bikes, NOT square barrel Victors which have been turned down!.

(2) The Pre-72 category will become a Pre-74 category, to include square barrel Victors, B50s and EARLY CCM. Plus British & European 2-strokes of the period.

Both categories will run together but scored separately. Two races per meeting, each race 15 minutes plus 1 lap. Championship points awarded down to 15th place.

Pre-registration is not necessary. The championship event is by invitation to the best riders at each meeting.

At the end of the series there will be awards for both categories down to 6th place. In addition there will be class awards for Pre-60 bikes in the Pre-65 category and Pre-70 bikes in the Pre-74 category. Also the AMCA will be awarding free 2014 competition licences to the winners of the Pre-65 and Pre-74 categories, and to the Pre-60 and Pre-70 class winners.

If you need further information (or indicate your intention to compete in the series) then e-mail: davidgittins650@talktalk.net
