Nympsfield MX1 IMBA and MX2 Championship
This Sunday, 15th July the Dursley MXC proudly host part two of a unique ‘Double’ which has seen them awarded the staging of both of the 2012 home solo IMBA European Championship rounds at Tinkley Lane, Nympsfield. Topping the bill, it’s the turn of the IMBA MX1 class to entertain you all.

In the IMBA European Championship races you will witness some of the best riders representing countries from as far afield as Holland, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Denmark, Czech Republic and of course AMCA Team Great Britain. Representing the ‘home’ country in the class for riders on bikes with an engine capacity of larger than 250cc will be local star, Lee Dunham, the current AMCA British MX1 Champion who also finished 3rd in the 2011 IMBA MX1 series. Joining Lee in today’s AMCA team will be Lancashire’s very own Lee Payne, Michael Reynolds and Luke Meredith. Completing the Team AMCA Great Britian squad and racing alongside the four 2012 IMBA regulars at Nympsfield will be one off ‘Wild card entries’, popular Bristolian Clinton Barrs and debutants Jamie Dobson and Stephen Tillotson.

With two rounds already completed in the Czech Republic and Holland, Dunham is the top Brit, holding 5th in the Championship standings. Reynolds currently sits in 10th, Payne 19th with Meredith 27th after missing the second meeting of the series due to a knee injury. Two years ago at Nympsfield, Dunham topped the IMBA MX2 podium and will be very determined to send his fans home happy again on Sunday by producing another equally impressive performance. Leading IMBA MX1 after two completed rounds is the German ace and former triple Champion Frank Jansen-Teitz ahead of Belgian Vincent Collet, 2011 Champion Jelle Grade and another impressive German, Michael Kaussen. Although Teitz is the pace setter at the moment, remember that there is maximum of 180 points available over the three Nympsfield moto’s so that Championship table could dramatically change!!.

Main Support action for the IMBA European Championship event is provided by round two of the AMCA MX2 British motocross Championship with Derbyshire star, Shane Holmes the current defending King. Following the opening MX2 round at Long Lane, near Telford, it’s the Cheshire Charger Scott Mathia who is the early series pace-setter ahead of Ben Saunders. In this class watch out for Dursley MXC brothers Carl and Brandon Benjamin and also Stroud based Paul Neale. At Long Lane, Brandon Benjamin produced the best result of his career so far to not only bag his maiden Championship race win but also a place on the podium. In the early Championship table, Brandon is in 3rd, Paul Neale 5th and Carl 6th. In the always ultra competitive class for riders on machines with an engine capacity of less than 249cc, also watch out for the likes of youngster Jack Cox, Ryan Crowder, Sean Frayne, James Lane and Ryan Morris amongst others.

So it’s time for the talking to stop and the racing to start. Don’t forget to be loud and very proud when you cheer our British riders as they go in search of IMBA glory.

AMCA’s 80th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS – August Bank Holiday weekend!
Way back in 1932 AMCA first stepped into the breach to organise off road events for a growing number of keen amateur motorcyclists.
Since then tens of thousands of members have enjoyed participating in all manner of events from hill climbs to motocross events, from classic scrambles to football on trials bikes! – you name it they’ve done it all.
To celebrate the fact that the AMCA has reached it’s 80th Birthday a two day event will be held at Upton Court – the home of one of the AMCA’s oldest clubs Kinver Auto Club.
The event will take place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend of 26th and 27th August, and is hoped will include a modern / classic trial, a motoduro, a modern motocross and classic scramble.
All of the finer details are still being worked out but it looks set to be a great weekend where AMCA members – both old and new, can share experiences and meet up with old adversaries!
Put it in your diary and keep an eye on the website for developments!
