THORNHILL STRONG AT CULHAM PARK

Taking part in the final round of the Red Bull two stroke championships held at Culham Park near Oxford at the weekend, Team Suzuki GB rider Dan Thornhill, put in a great performance on his RM250 in the two-stroke class taking a fifth overall.

Having ridden the smaller 125cc two-stroke machine at the later part of this season, the 250cc two-stroke was his weapon of choice for this meeting, as he prepares for the Weston Beach race in only a matter of weeks.

With little time on the bigger and more powerful 250, Thornhill impressed early on, taking the holeshot in race one and an early lead before settling inside the top five to cross the line in fifth place. Another solid ride in the second race while learning to tame the fierce power of the RM250 yielded a fourth place, before one place lower in the final race of the day gave the youngster a great fifth overall on the day.

Thornhill commented, “This was great racing to be a part of. The competition in this class is very strong and helped me progress on the 250cc two stroke. This was certainly great preparation for the Weston Beach race, where I am competing in the main event this year.’

Paul Butler team manager commented, “Dan has adapted to the 250cc two stroke very quickly and to finish fifth overall against such a high level of riding is fantastic for him. Dan and his team mate Keaton Butler have both been picked by their BSMA clubs to ride at the BSMA team event, which again is a great achievement, and then finally onto the Weston Beach Race. Well done to both.”
