In motocross terms Oakleaf Kawasaki are a fairly new kid on the block, but with the support of sponsors and solid results from their riders over the last 2 years or so, Oakleaf are now the official MX1 Kawasaki team in the UK, a remarkable achievement in a short space of time.
Their senior riders this year are Shane Carless and Priit Ratsep, both raced at Landrake this past weekend with mixed results which you can see HERE
Their youngest member of the team is Ben White who races in the SW85 class in various youth events across the UK, we caught up with Ben recently for a catch up on how things are going.
Hey Ben, whats it like to ride for Oakleaf Kawasaki, one of the best looking set up in the paddock?
“It’s great to be on Oakleaf Kawasaki because it is good to have the support of my team and teammates calming me down when I’m nervous for a race and to have the mechanics by my side.”
It’s a busy year for youth racing, what championships are you racing this year and what class?
“I am racing the GT Cup, the Pro Nationals, the odd British Youth Nationals and the BSMA Nationals in the small wheel 85cc class.”
You have 2 awesome team mates in Shane and Priit but which other UK rider do you admire and why?
“Max Anstie because he has amazing style and I love watching him.”
Good choice. What was your best memory from the 2013 season?
“My best memory was getting the holeshot at the last race of the GT Cup at Pontrilas last year and finishing 14th in my first ever national on an 85cc small wheel.”
Ok we’re going to ask you some quick fire questions, answer what ever comes into your head first, here goes…
Marmite or Jam?
Football or Rugby?
USA or Europe?
Supercross or motocross?
Thanks for that Ben and good luck in 2014.
