The new 2013 TM Racing 85cc MX machine has been in development for almost 2 years and we are sure you will agree it has been worth the wait, this incredible looking machine, is for the most, a scale replica of it’s larger siblings and is the first to feature a full aluminium chassis in this displacement category. Complementing the new chassis is a complete new look with a fresher, modern design, the plastics are unique to the 85cc machine and again mirror it’s larger siblings, not only is this new machine a radical evolution in design and looks but also features significant weight savings over the outgoing model being gained in the chassis and component parts.
The well proven, powerful and extremely reliable 85cc single cylinder water cooled engine has also had some revisions for 2013, these include a new intake system and a new HGS exhaust increasing the induction and expulsion properties of the engine over a large percentage of the rpm range, of course there have been internal changes to the engine also and these include..
Modifications to the gearbox selector system with friction reduction coated forks allowing for smoother and more precise gear shifts, changes to the cylinder ports, cylinder head, digital ignition system and fueling combine with the new intake and exhaust to increase horsepower and torque throughout the range. The ‘oversize’ clutch remains which has been proven to be the ultimate in reliability in this cc class, the larger clutch soaks up all the abuse that little hands can give it ensuring that the legendary TM 2-Stroke power gets to the ground consistently in the hardest conditions, allowing for better control, less fade and maximum plate life, the clutch is controlled hydraulically by a Brembo master cylinder working with the new die-cast slave cylinder from the large machines. The engine also retains all of the high quality parts we have become accustomed to with TM Racing machines and on the 85cc engine these include a billet machined crankshaft with a high quality big end bearing and pin for long life and greatest performance matched to an ‘in-house’ finished Vertex piston, a V-Force reed valve system controls the inlet charge giving the best performance characteristics and hand finished engine cases and cylinders allow for better fit and best internal flow, all finally assembled by hand to the exacting tolerances and standards for the best in performance and reliability.

A hand assembled and welded aluminium perimeter main chassis giving maximum strength whilst maintaining engineered ‘flex’, the new chassis is matched to an aluminium sub-frame with a tubular construction both combine to allow a lower overall weight. ‘Oversize’ wave discs matched to a mix of master cylinders and calipers all joined by braided hoses designed to work together to give effortless braking and utmost control in the harshest conditions, a must for rider confidence. Billet machined aluminium hubs laced to anodised blue excel rims not only give that ‘factory’ look but also offer increased strength in one of the key areas of any off-road competition machine, TM’s in-house machined aluminium treated rear sprocket, machined steel front sprocket and quality chain ensure that the trip to the parts shop after run-in is not required. Billet machined aluminium triple clamps again ensure maximum strength and weight control in another key area of any off-road machine, fitted to the billet clamps are Reikon ‘taper’ handlebars. Suspending the machine are Paioli Kayaba forks featuring both compression and rebound control matched to a WP shock again with dual control, the rear shock works progressively through a linkage system suspended below the swinging arm which is assembled from a mix of cast and extruded aluminium parts for maximum strength and weight control. Finally ‘oversize’ footrests give the youth rider a larger footrest surface area, allowing for greater flexibility of boot placement ensuring best stability and confidence.
