GB IMBA – Nympsfield – Sunday 10th June
On Sunday 17th June the Dursley MXC will host the first part of a unique ‘double’ which will see them stage both of the 2012 IMBA European Championship home solo rounds at the AMCA owned Tinkley Lane, Nympsfield circuit in Gloucestershire.
The first meeting will feature Round 4 of the IMBA MX2 European Championship with the main support action being provided by Round 2 of the AMCA MX1 Championship.
As well as the thrilling motocross on offer, the hard working club have live music and a disco to entertain early arrivals on Saturday evening!!.
Admission costs for the event have been set at £8 Adults, £4 OAP’s and Children Over 12 and Under12′s FREE.
So get along to the event and cheer our Team AMCA Great Britain riders as they battle for vital IMBA Championship points.

Firstly it’s the turn of the IMBA MX2 class to entertain and top the bill and everyone at Dursley MXC would like to welcome our visitors travelling from Europe. In the IMBA European Championship races you will witness some of the best riders representing countries from as far afield as Holland, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Denmark, Czech Republic, Italy and of course AMCA Team Great Britain. Representing the ‘home’ country in the class for riders on bikes with an engine capacity of less than 250cc will be local Stroud based Paul Neale, current AMCA British MX2 Champion Shane Holmes, South coast rider Lewis Abbott and Cheshire ace Scott Mathia, winner of the opening round of the 2012 AMCA MX2 British Championship just seven days ago. Joining the four 2012 IMBA regulars for a one off ‘Wild card entry’ will be Ben Saunders, a former double ACU British Under-21 Champion and local Dursley MXC members and brothers Carl and Brandon Benjamin, the latter boosted by a career best third overall in the opening AMCA Championship MX2 round at Long Lane.
With two rounds already completed in Denmark and Germany, Abbott is the top Brit, holding 8th in the Championship standings. Neale currently sits in 12th with Mathia 15th and Holmes 16th. Two years ago at Nympsfield, Neale finished on the IMBA podium and already this season has scored a 2nd placing in the opening race in Germany, so watch out for Paul this Sunday!!. Currently leading IMBA MX2 with a perfect unbeaten score after two completed rounds is the Dutch ace John Cuppen. Indeed Cuppen’s Dutch team look particularly strong at present with Ralph Hubers, Chris Pol vd and Jarno Derks all holding down top six places in the Championship table. The only riders preventing a total Dutch domination at this stage in the series are the Italian duo of Roberto Dalla Bona and Manuel Zecchinati.
Main Support action for the IMBA European Championship event is provided by round two of the AMCA MX1 British motocross Championship with Wotton-Under-Edge star, Lee Dunham the current defending Champion. Following the opening MX1 round just seven day’s earlier at Long Lane, near Telford, Dunham is currently 33 points behind Lancastrian Lee Payne who blasted to a perfect maximum score during the action in Shropshire. Also watch out for the Barrs boy’s Clinton, Elliot and Tye, Shaun Pearce, Stephen Tillotson Michael Reynolds and Luke Spence amongst others at Nympsfield whilst 17 year-old Luke Dean will be desperate for a big points score to get himself back in title contention.
So its time for the talking to stop and the racing to start, don’t forget to be loud and very proud when you cheer our British riders as they go in search of IMBA glory.
Remember also that part two of the Nympsfield IMBA and AMCA Championship action will take place on Sunday,July 15th,don’t forget to come along, you are sure to be impressed!!.
