French-speaking Swiss star Arnaud Tonus competes in the MX2 class of the FIM World Motocross Championship for Team CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy. After three years as a privateer riding a KTM in the European Championship 80cc and EMX2 classes, he made his GP debut in 2008 at St. Jean d’Angely, France. The following year, he raced full-time in the competition, finishing a respectable 16th overall, and he did even better in 2010 with a seventh place overall finish.

Moving to Bike-It Cosworth Wild Wolf Yamaha for 2011, he continued to progress finishing fifth in the overall standings, but he dropped back in 2012 to 12th, after suffering a series of major injuries. On a Kawasaki for 2013, he finished back in 29th, spending most of the season on the sidelines as it became evident that injuries during the previous year required further surgery.

He returned fully fit in 2014, and picked up his first, and so far only, GP win, a stunning double victory at the first race of the season at Beto Carrero, Brazil. He currently lies in sixth overall with three rounds of the season remaining.

In June 2014, it was announced that Arnaud had turned down several opportunities to sign for a factory team to compete in the MXGP class in 2015, and would instead join up with Mitch Payton’s Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team in the USA to compete in the 250 East Supercross series and the AMA 250 Nationals over the next two years.
