British rider Jake Nicholls rides for the Wilvo Forkrent KTM team in the FIM Motocross World Championship MXGP competition. He made his GP debut in 2006 at Matterley Basin in the UK in the MX2 class, and the following year, riding a Suzuki for the Fork Rent team, went on to finish 38th overall.
He continued to progress in 2008 with the Suzuki Swift Motocross team with a 29th place finish overall, and the following year, riding a KTM for the first time, he finished 17th. Jake has been on board a KTM ever since, finishing 13th in 2010, 11th in 2011, fourth in 2012 and seventh in 2013.
Jake was born in Ipswich on 4th April 1990. He first stepped on to a bike at the age of two, and hasn’t looked back since, entering his first competitive race at the age of six at Holkham in Norfolk, and racing international Grand Prix at 17. He is currently ranked fourth in the world, and is well on his way to achieving his ambition of becoming world champion.
Career highlight so far is probably a fourth placed finish at the 2010 FIM Motocross of Nations in Colorado for Team GB, only narrowly missing out on a podium finish. He started the 2014 season in promising fashion – just three weeks after breaking a bone in his back during a practice session, he put in some good lap times to finish 16th overall in Qatar.
