Steven Clarke, from Stourbridge in the East Midlands, is a member of the Dyer & Butler KTM squad, competing in the MX2 class of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship. He is also one of the leading names in British supercross, spending the off-season at the end of 2013 at a self-imposed six-week boot camp at the Millsaps Training Facility in the USA in order to hone his indoor skills.
Something of a journeyman racer, Steven had raced all over the world, including in Australia and in the US AMA East Coast supercross series, where he had a best result of fifth in a Main Event, before returning to the British motocross scene with the HM Plant KTM team in April 2013 at the age of 22.
It proved an inspired decision, particularly in the the British Championship where he finished tenth – he scored three moto podiums, including a victory in the second race of the fourth round at Foxhill, and an overall podium in the third round at Milton MX Park. He also competed in the EMX250 class at the Matterley Basin MXGP.
He began 2014 in fine form, with some great performances on the Garmin Arenacross Tour – he took first and second place in the first two main events in Belfast, and also won later on the tour in Newcastle, for a seventh place finish overall. In the British Championship, he is lying in eighth place overall with two rounds of the season remaining.
