Round 6 for CJSC
CJSC travelled north this weekend for Round 6 of the Summer Championship, Neil had graded and watered the track in preparation for the race meeting.
For the first moto the track was mint, however for the final two blocks the rain that was expected didn’t arrive and as the sun shone the track went hard pack, the main obstacle of the day was punctures, a number of riders pushing their machines over the line.
An excellent turn out and practice commenced at 10.00 am sharp following a riders meeting.
Our champions of the future Auto riders were keen to tackle the entire track so the clerk made the decision not to cut it and they rode it with ease. Even Southern lad Leon Letty who was racing for the first time. James Scott had a fantastic day taking the overall first followed by Dex Trivitt in second and third place went to one of girl riders. No 11 Leonni TIghe.
Juniors were out next Will Keogh with maximum points taking first, followed by Joe Jaques in second and Tom Hume no 80 coming in close on points in third.
Smalls wheels saw the debut race for another newby to the sport, no 21 Jacob Williams, who was ecstatic and not at all fazed by this gnarly track.
But it was top rider as per Tom Neal who took the overall after matching on points with Mat Callaghan who came second when the results in the final race was the decision maker, the top three battled in all races and it was Robert Davidson who came in taking third on the podium.
Big wheels were equally as exciting and entertained the masses of spectators, with the front pack leaders battling throughout the day Nathan Dixon took a first place trophy home, and only two points behind the local star Ashley Smith was second with Shaun Southgate in third being the only rider in the top three taking a win in race two. Special mention to Sheffield lad Jake Millward that took 2 race wins but unfortunately had a puncture in the 2nd race.
Adults were out next Mathew White, sponsored by Washbrooke Farm was in continual battle with rider no 50 Ben Howard who didn’t eventually make the podium after machine problems in race one landed him a DNF, Matt took the first after an exceptional performance followed by a rapid Jack Rowland and a well deserved third place went to Lewis Meadows.
Senior 125 were also jinxed with its share of bad luck, with Richard Carter, no stranger to the no 1 box on the podium suffered punctures in the second and third motos, so it was George Foames who a well earned first place followed by Adam Extrance who was first in race 2 and overall third went to Stuart Owen rider no 136.
Get well wishes to Ben and Max Rhodes who both had an off in the same race and both sustained leg injuries, what are the chances of that? We wish you a speedy recovery.
Once again thank you to the committee and the medics for a brilliantly organised weekend, and we must remind all mums and dads that we are having a parents race, at our next meeting which is a 2 dayer at Chippenham on 25th and 26th July 2009.
