As the race season rolls in to the second half of the year the riders and spectators made a welcome return to the legendary Foxhill circuit for round 5 of the Maxxis British Championship. With great weather and the track in perfect conditions it looked set to be a good days racing.

With a 2 week break from racing and a short trip to France Alex Snow was feeling fresh and confident after his strong showing previously at Pontrilas a fortnight earlier. Alex put in some good time in the first qualifying session doing just enough to get in to the superpole in 12th. As he hit the track for one flying lap Alex managed to better his lap time from session one knocking off 1.5 seconds off his time to improve to 10th place ahead of the three 20 minute plus 2 lap races.

As the gate dropped for race one Alex got slightly squeezed up the start straight before narrowly missing a pile up on a freshly water turn one! He round lap one in 18th position, but this didn’t deter Snow at all as he picked off riders and missed some gnarly incidents to get up to a pack of 6 riders all racing from 6th place back to 12th. With everyone changing positions and fighting hard on the extremely fast track Alex managed to secure 11th at the flag but showed with his lap times he was fast enough to run inside the top 6.

Determine to improve on race one Alex pulled a awesome holeshot in race two and lead for nearly three laps. After picking up some good line from Anderson and Bobreshev, Alex hung in there as long as he could having a good battle with Tom Church , James Noble and Jason Dougan along the way he was able to end the race 7th.

Another good jump out of the gate in race three was short lives as Snow caught the gear leaver with his heal just over the gate and hit a false neutral. He then new for the second time that day his work would be cut out as he came around on lap one in 16th position. After some good passes and keeping himself upright Alex slowly moved his way up 8th place by mid race. Snow then came under pressure from Reigning Champion Anderson were Snow responded and put in his quickest laps of the race and held him at bay for nearly 4 laps before Ando slipped through. Alex then kept the lap times consistent all the way to the end were the finished 9th and 8th overall on the day.

‘’I’m very pleased with today’s outcome. Foxhills has never been a great track for me, so to finally have got rid of that diamond off my back feels really good. I feel really good all round at the minute in myself and the bike so I just want to keep this momentum moving in to the next race.’’ Commented Snow

Snow still lies in 11th place in the championship but is only 4 points off 9th and 10th in the championship race. Alex next championship race is round 7 of the Red Bull Pro Nationals 8th august. The venue is to be announces but will be released shortly.
