BOOG SECOND IN ADAC MASTERS EVENT
The European summer is in full swing, and wherever there is a suitably rough patch of land, off road bikes are being fired up as the continent’s racers chase glory in various championships. At the top of the pile, the world championship racers fill the weekends between GP’s to participate in various national championship events. The ADAC Masters series is a popular home to many GP riders, and since his Teka Suzuki team is German-based, Xavier Boog naturally has no compunction in putting his best foot forward in this popular and competitive series.
The second round of the championship too place at Reutlingen, and some brilliant sunny weather welcomed the championship regulars. As is always the case at German championship events, a sizeable crowd collected itself to witness proceedings. Xavier struggled initially to slot into his rhythm, and qualified sixth fastest in his group.
The affable Frenchman was in a positive frame of mind as he arrived at the track for Sunday’s races. Despite being outgunned on his 250cc machine against the brutal 450cc bikes of most of the opposition, the slightly-built young man wrung the most out of his Suzuki, and rode to two consistent fourth place finishes. IN both instances he was the first 250cc-mounted rider home, an din the second race he finished a mere 16 seconds behind Hungarian race winner Kornel Nemeth.
Although he had no race podium, Xavier’s consistent two rides saved the day and thanks to some up-and-down results by most of the opposition, he was called up to stand on the second step of the podium, with only Nemeth besting him in the overall standings. Xavier now occupies joint fourth place in the championship standings wi ht teammate Ken Roczen, and the Suzuki teammates are a single point behind third-placed Filip Neugebauer.
The team heads across the point next for the seventh round of the world championship series at Mallory Park in England.
