The final event for the EMX2 European Championship was great for the Italian team Yamaha Gariboldi Racing. They took double podium and the European Champion Title.

Christophe Charlier finished the season with the win at the home event and with the Title. The day has begun with the win of Jeffrey Herlings (KTM JM Racing). It was a persuasive win. But after the first race was already known that Charlier conquered the Championship. He was second. Third was Belgian rider Jeremy Delince (KTM).

Herlings took the holeshot also in the second race, where Charlier was already riding as the number one. After some laps Charlier passed Herlings. During their battle for the leading position Herlings crashed at the jump. While he went to the pitlane to repair the damaged bike, he lost many positions. Herlings returned on the track and finished 15th. Charlier passed the finish line first. Slovenian rider Klemen Gercar (Yamaha Gariboldi Racing) was second and also third position was taken by Gariboldi rider, Matthias Bellino.

EMX2 European Champion Christophe Charlier won, Klemen Gercar was second, Jeremy Delince third, Jason Clermont (France) fourth and Matthias Bellino fifth.

RIDER’S COMMENTS

1st – CHRISTOPHE CHARLIER (France): “It was wonderfull to compete here and take the European Championship Title in France. The atmosphere was fantastic. I knew I need a good result in the first race to win the Championship. I was not nervous and I finished second behind Herlings. Then I won the second race and the whole team was so happy. After very successful beginning of the season in the middle of the year I made some mistakes. The most important is that I am on the top at the end of all races.”

2nd – KLEMEN GERCAR (Slovenia): I came to defend the third position in the Championship Classification. In the first race my start was bad, I finished fifth. In the second race I was second. I am very glad to take the second place today and third in the Championship. Thank to my sponsors, team and my parents for the support. The track was hard, also in Slovenia we have some similar tracks. At the beginning of the year my condition was not good enough, then my form was getting better. I have learned a lot during this season.

3rd – JEREMY DELINCE (Belgium): The track was difficult and the race was not easy. There were many stones everywhere. I took my second podium this year. After the good result in Markelo I did not think I will be on the podium again. It is great to take the podium in the last event.”
