David Goosen won the British Open Final at the Future West International Supercross this weekend. The National Exibition Centre (NEC) hosted round two of the series on the revamped circuit after the same venue hosting round one the previous week. The new circuit was both technical and challenging and provided the spectators with lots of bar banging action but also a few crashes.

Goosen got the chance to ride the new 2010 fuel injected CRF 250 Honda at round two after his race bike developed a technical problem. The JAR by Site Sealants Honda team had little time to prepare the new machine but David worked hard through all the practice sessions to find a race set-up that he was happy with.

The South African born ace lead each of the three heat races and qualified on pole for the British Final, which was his main focus after making a mistake in last weeks race. In the final, eighteen year old Goosen took the holeshot and lead from start to finish show maturity way beyond his years. The team also entered David into the International SX1 and SX2 races and where he convincingly lead both heat races until making a small mistake in the closing stages of both races.

Dennis Amor – team manager

”This weekend has demonstrated the faith that we have in David. Unfortunately we had not had time to bring the 2010 machine up to race specification but David was able to get comfortable on the bike quite quickly. This is a testiment to how good the new CRF 250 is straight from the showroom. Last weekend wraps up our racing season for 2009 and I would like to thank all our team sponsors for all their help this year. David is now heading to Spain testing before travelling to South Africa in January to begin pre season training. We will regroup now and hopefully come back next year with a stronger infastructure to tackle the Maxxis British Motocross Championship.”

David Goosen – rider

”This weekend has been awesome for me. I got the chance to ride our new bike and felt good on it straight away. The races were good as I was battling with guys that win races week in week out so that fills me full of confidence for next year. I made a few mistakes in the heat races which gave me a bad pick of the gate for the International SX2 race where I felt that I could challenge for the podium. It was really cool to stand at the top of the podium in the British Final though and to hopefully give something back to my team and everyone that has helped me this season. I am looking forward to a small break before getting back onto the bike again at the end of the month.”
