Good results for Lanes Kawasaki overshadowed by Canada Heights weather cancellation

Canada Heights is Lanes Kawasaki’s local Red Bull Pro Nationals round, and after a very wet visit to Ireland two weeks previously, the news on Sunday morning that the second day’s racing was cancelled, was not welcome. With this, only Elite Rookie rider James Harrison had the chance to get out on the track on the weekend.

Track conditions on Saturday morning were almost perfect, and Harrison qualified in second. The first race got off to a great start with Harrison out front from beginning to end, keeping fellow Kawasaki man Jake Millward at bay. The second race looked to be identical as the first. Out front again, Harrison set the pace early, but soon came under pressure from Millward again. With an intense battle for the lead, Harrison pushed hard, but found himself on the ground for enough time for several rivals to slip by. He recovered for a fifth place. The final race saw Harrison around the first few corners in third, but with increasingly slippery conditions underfoot, he was not able to make much ground, instead losing it to end in sixth.

After Sunday morning’s announcement, the Saturday results confirmed Harrison as fourth overall on the weekend.

“How to sum up the weekend,” mused team principal Dean Lane. “James qualified in second on Saturday in timed qualifying. The first race he won but with two laps to go was sick in his helmet but stayed on for the win. He hole-shotted the second race and led for most of the race. He went back to second, then diced for the top three, but made a mistake in the last two corners and went back to fifth. In the last race he got an average start and ended up sixth. Sunny and Marc didn’t race because racing was cancelled due to track conditions.”

James Harrison (#153): Yesterday was good. In qualifying I got a second and I was happy with that. In the first race I got a good start, hole-shotted it and managed to win the first race, so that was alright. Second race, I was third and with two corners to go I crashed and dropped to fifth. In the last race I got a decent start, it was raining so it was slippery in the woods, and I got a bit sketched out and finished sixth in that one.
