Kinver heads to Waterstone
Last weekend the Hereford motocross club hosted a round of both the Vets series and the two stoke championships at their track of Waterstone. Yet again with recent weather conditions the meeting looked in jeopardy after a muddy paddock nearly halted a work party mid week, but in true mx style the club pressed on and ran the meeting, but in a complete turn round had to cut the days racing short to two blocks because of the time needed to water the track during the third block in the very dusty conditions.
There was a big turn out of spectators at this popular track and they were treated to some very fast and competitive racing in the sweltering conditions, there was a tie at the top in the Vets series with the result determined by the winner of the last race which went to Mark Hawkins from Newark MXC ahead of David Livesey from the Teme Valley club, the final podium spot went to Jim Shand from the Kinver club. In the two stoke class, championship leader Tino Rizzi from the Mold & District club claimed top spot yet again which left the Stratford Pyramids duo of Simon White and Alan Jones battling it out for second place with Simon edging it on the day. Worcesters James Lane romped home in the MX2 experts with two moto wins for top spot ahead of Dales Hales from the Cannock club who took second place, Kinver Dan Hill completed the podium in third place. Dan also picked up third overall in the MX1 class on his 450 machine in a more closely fort group behind Rhys Trilloe from the Llantrisant club in second and Kirk Richards from the Merthyr club who took first overall.
MX1 seniors saw a first overall for Chris west from the Upton club with another tied on points result for second and third, Colin Jeffrey from Ross Falcons got it on the last race result from fellow Ross rider Andy Ivens.
Hereford’s own Ryan Jones picked up first overall in the MX2 seniors in front of Gloucester’s Ashley Dangerfield and Llanistrant’s Josh Webb who finished third overall. Raglans Joe Powell cruised to victory in the Juniors unlimited class with two moto wins but only one point separated second and third place with Daniel Nelmes from the Ross club picking up second spot with Martin Phelpstead from the Gloucester club picking up third. Kyle Probert from the Raglan club finished first overall in the MX2 juniors one point in front of Gloucester’s Jamie Chandler, Jamie Bevan from the Raglan club picked up third spot.
The club as ever put on a first class meeting, and tried in vain to cope with the dusty conditions, watering such a large hilly circuit is always a tricky and time consuming job, but the safety of the riders always comes first.
