SPEEDY EDEY

Mildenhall played the backdrop for Cambridge Junior Scramble Clubs, 11th summer championship, Cliff and the team had prepared the track to the highest standard as usual and practise started at 10:00.

The Autos started the meeting, banging bars just like the big lads, points mean everything now and these future stars are very competitive. James Scott scored maximum points to add to his already impressive record and took 1st place on the podium, coming in 2nd after some impressive riding was Callum Mitchell and a couple of points behind 3rd place went to Jude Busby.

Its was Junior 65 rider Jake Edey form Wansford who joined the elite team of maximum point scoring winners this week,  with the bit between his teeth, he wasn’t just content with conquering his opponents with three amazing gate to flag finishes, he took all 3 hole shots as well.  Jake and his family were ecstatic about this his 1st place win since riding with Cambridge. Todd Richie claimed 2nd place after some brilliant riding and in 3rd place no stranger to the podium Tom Hume.

Ben Cole also scored maximum points this weekend, in the SW85 group, 3 impressive straight wins, claiming the overall 1st; Danny Wright fought well and deserved his 2nd and Jack Seabourn, an awesome rider, new to the podium in this group took the 3rd.

BW85 lads were out next, the track was holding up well, it didn’t get bumpy and rutted until the second block of racing, the BW are a fast group and it was Nathan Dixon from Halifax who bought home a 1st place trophy winning moto 1 & 2 but an off in moto 3 looked likely to hinder his overall but he managed to bring it round an amazing result from talented Shaun Southgate who earned a well deserved 2nd place and Ashley Smith who took the lead in moto one but then disappeared, who pulled it together taking 3rd.

Matthew White in the adult group, took the win in race 1 and 3 but machine problems didn’t allow him to join the gate in race 2, but Ben Howard who was consistent all day, securing a triumphant 1st place, Andrew Stevenson accomplished a victorious 2nd place and in 3rd a deserved Justin Penty was on the podium after a hard days work. Watch this space at Caistor, where the Championship Crown winner will be decided, we are expecting some great battles from Matt and Ben who are now matching on points.

The Schoolboy 125 group were out last in every block, and they had to work really hard following all of the other groups as the track gets gnarly by the end of the meeting, moto 1 saw some a change in the lead seemingly in every lap, George Foames went down, followed shortly by Richard Carter and William King decided to have a look at the trees at the back of the track, Carter then managed to cut through back into the lead taking the win, followed by Brody Knibbs in 2nd and Harry Gregory attaining 3rd , Hard battles continued for the rest of the day, finally resulting in Richard Carter taking the overall victory with maximum points, 2nd place Daley Caldron triumphant, after a few offs he still came through undeterred, and in 3rd place after pulling the twigs out of his helmet William King.

The committee would like to thank all marshals, Cliff and his team, the paramedics and Clarkes Of Walsham who kindly donated the trophy’s. We look forward to seeing you for the final round of the summer 2009 Championship at Caistor on the 20th September 09.
