DUNN TAKES SOLID SECOND IN SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

The final round of the British Supercross Championship was held at the O2 Arena in London at the weekend where Team Doodson Suzuki youth rider James Dunn would come away with a credible runner-up championship position.

Riding his Suzuki RM85 big wheel, Dunn was to come through the qualifying heat and claim first position ahead of his rival Ben Watson. It would however, be a different story in the race, as the gates dropped and Dunn was last into the first corner. With everything to play for, he had to fight hard to get to the front of the pack and with the track gnarly, passing other riders was to be a very precise operation.

With the crowd behind him, Dunn chased down Watson and followed closely behind him right up to the last lap. With a very close run through every turn and jump, Watson was to take the chequered flag and the championship, with Dunn following him across the line to take second position in the race and the championship.

Talking about the evening’s racing James commented, ‘Of course gating first would have been good, but the atmosphere however was electric and the crowd were amazing. I really enjoyed the race and despite missing out on the title, I feel ready for the open season start in March.”

MVR-D Suzuki rider, Carl Nunn, claimed the British Supercross Championship title on Saturday evening, as the RM-Z250 rider put on another impressive performance, to leave the final round of the series at the O2 Arena in London, with the British title.

Nunn, who went into the final round with just a one-point advantage over Gordon Crockard, took the title in the single race, by finishing in second place, behind Neville Bradshaw, after a racing tangle with championship rival, Crockard.

Talking about his path to championship glory, Nunn commented, “Obviously I’m over the moon to get a British title under my belt. The MVR-D Suzuki Team have been fantastic and this gives us a real boost for the season ahead. As for the last round, my clash with Gordon was really unfortunate, but we both agree it was just one of those unlucky racing incidents. On the whole though, it’s been a fun series and a great opportunity to stay race fit during the winter.”

Carl finished the final International race in a solid fifth place too.

The MVR-D team now head to Italy for some pre-season testing, as well as a one-off ride in the Italian national series, before the British outdoor season kicks-off.
