Whatley stretches lead to 9 points in British MMX championship

The 2009 British MMX Championships made the long trip north to Scotland for the penultimate round held at Leuchars. Despite the recent bad weather in the UK, the track was in prime condition and the rain decided to take a day off leaving the Sandy circuit in Sunshine.

Elliott Banks Browne was the overall winner in the Open class. Kristian Whatley took second but more importantly he extended his slight championship lead to 9 points after his two main rivals, Brad Anderson and Carl Nunn both suffered pipe problems in race one.

Scott Elderfield showed his class at riding in sand and won both Under 21 races ahead of Shane Carless and Rickard Sandberg – Eldy now has a 6 point lead in the title race over Carless.

John Mitchell and Paul Holmes shared the race wins in the Quad class but it was Mitchell that took the overall win. Paul winrow took third overall and consolidated his championship lead and now has a 38 point gap to second place.
