The third round of the British Youth Nationals Series, which was scheduled to take place at Wooley Grange this weekend, has now been postponed until 8/9 September due to the recent bad weather making the track too dangerous to race on.

Representatives from RHL Activities and Race Direction inspected the track this morning and the decision to postpone the event was unanimous.

“It’s a shame we’ve had to postpone this weekend’s event, as we already have everything in place, but rider safety is paramount and the track is unsafe to race on because of the weather,” declared Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities.

“We waited until this morning before making the decision, on the off chance that the conditions would improve. Despite the best efforts of the local club, RHL Activities and everyone involved in this weekend’s event, more rain overnight basically turned the track into a swamp and, with more rain forecast, it isn’t going to improve.”

Entries for this weekend’s event will automatically be carried over to the rescheduled round at Wooley Grange, which will take place over the weekend of 8/9 September. The Pontrillas round originally scheduled for this date will now run over the weekend of 14/15 July.

The Premier Mx team made an inspection (Wednesday) to Tiverton Moto Parc where this weekend would of hosted round 4 of the Phoenix Tools Premier Motocross Championship, but unfortunately with a lot of rain falling in the last couple of days in the South West the decision has been made to postpone the meeting due to the track and pits completely water logged, coupled with an excessive amount of rain due to fall in the region over the next few days this was the only option.

The team have already re scheduled the meeting which will now be run on Sunday 3rd June at the same venue.

The opening round of this year’s Red Bull Pro Nationals, scheduled for this weekend (April 28-29) at Landrake Moto Parc in Cornwall, has been postponed and will now run a fortnight later than originally planned on May 12-13.

With heavy rain falling in the South West and even more forecast for the rest of the week, series promoter Matt Bates of Events 22 has been forced to make the unenviable decision.

“I’m gutted, absolutely gutted,” says Matt, “but we can’t take the chance that spectators and riders will turn up and be greeted by a mud bath. That way everyone loses – the riders, the fans, the sport. It’s a tough call to make but we postponed our opening round at Landrake a couple of years ago due to the weather and the decision was vindicated then, so I’m confident I’m making the right call this time around.

“The irony is that while heavy rain may very well leave the track in perfect condition for racing, the infrastructure of Landrake simply won’t hold up to it and we’ll be reduced to towing everyone in and out and that’s just unacceptable.”

Everyone who’s purchased advanced tickets will be contacted and offered either a full refund or the chance to transfer their tickets to the new date. All riders have been contacted and are advised to contact Claire in the MCF office on 01235 750740 should they wish to transfer their entry.
